Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we get asked most.

About training, setup, the UK and Ireland regulatory context, equipment, financing, and what happens after your studio opens.

Do I need medical training to open a 3D/4D ultrasound studio in the UK?
No. Elective (non-diagnostic) ultrasound does not require a medical licence in the UK or Ireland. Our training programme takes complete beginners from first principles to performing professional elective scans on live clients, typically in three to four days. Existing sonographers complete the training in about two days.
Is elective ultrasound legal in the UK and Ireland?
Yes. Non-diagnostic 3D/4D keepsake ultrasound is legal across the UK and Ireland when offered as a commercial elective service. During training and setup, we cover the specific compliance points you need to know, including consent forms, safety protocols, appropriate disclaimers about the non-diagnostic nature of the scans, and BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society) guidance.
Do you actually travel to the UK and Ireland to deliver training?
Yes. Training is delivered on-site at your studio location, anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland. Travel is built into the private training package. Your team learns on your equipment, in your space, on your schedule. You do not have to fly anyone to the US.
How long does training take?
For non-sonographers with no prior medical background, plan on three to four days of intensive hands-on training. For existing sonographers or those with related clinical experience, training is typically condensed to two days. Equipment-applications training on a specific machine (for example, learning your new Voluson E8 inside out) is usually one day.
What does a complete turn-key studio setup cost?
It varies significantly depending on equipment choice (new vs refurbished, flagship vs mid-tier), studio size, location, and which services you bundle in. The honest answer is that we quote every project individually based on your market and your goals. Email or WhatsApp us with your situation and we'll give you a realistic figure. Financing is available for clients across multiple credit profiles.
How is this different from an ultrasound franchise?
A franchise takes ongoing royalties from your monthly revenue, typically 5% to 10%, forever. It restricts your branding, dictates how you operate, and locks you into long contracts. Our model is the opposite. You pay once for training and setup. You keep 100% of your revenue after that. You operate under your own name, build your own brand, and own every client relationship.
Can I keep my existing studio name and branding?
Yes. That's the entire point of the turn-key model. The studio is yours, the brand is yours, the reputation you build is yours. We provide the training, setup, equipment, and marketing launch support — but the business is 100% yours.
Which ultrasound machine should I buy?
It depends on your market, your budget, and the positioning you want. Our four flagship recommendations are the GE Voluson E10 (top of the line), Samsung HERA W10 (modern flagship, excellent automation), GE Voluson E8 (the reliable workhorse), and Samsung WS80A (modern mid-premium with the Hello Mom client-sharing app). We'll send honest trade-off analysis based on your specific situation.
Is financing available for UK and Ireland buyers?
Yes. We work with financing partners who can structure equipment leases, startup programmes, and second-chance credit options for UK and Ireland clients. Most applications clear in 24 hours. Check the "interested in financing" box on our contact form and our financing partner will reach out directly.
Do you provide ongoing support after training ends?
Yes, at no extra charge. Our clients tend to become repeat clients because the relationship doesn't end when the invoice is paid. Questions a week in, six months in, a year in — we pick up. That's the reason 500+ studios have opened successfully and continue to work with us.
How quickly can I open a studio from initial contact?
For a realistic turn-key launch, plan on eight to twelve weeks from signed agreement to soft-opening. This includes location finalisation, legal setup, equipment delivery (which often has the longest lead time), website and branding, training delivery, and launch marketing. Faster is possible if you already have a location and equipment in hand.
Can you help with marketing after my studio opens?
Yes. Our business training covers the full marketing and SEO playbook, and we stay available for tactical questions as your studio grows. For clients on the turn-key package, we include initial local SEO setup, social media templates, and launch campaign strategy. Ongoing monthly marketing retainers are available separately if you'd like deeper support.
